USA Places Third at World Barista Championships

wbclogo.gif

The World Barista Championships occurred recently and Matt Riddle of Intelligentsia Coffee came in third place. The competition follows the US championships and included over 30 competitors from around the world. Cups of espresso and cappuccions must have been flying there! The competition has each competitor prepare several espresso and cappuccinos for the judges tables as well as a specicalty drink, all in under 17 minutes. The winner was Klaus Thomsen, of Denmark, followed by Sammy Piccolo, of Canada. If you want to read a good write up on the competition, see the notes from Cindy Chang over at Counter Culture who is the US contact for the WBC.
