Attibassi ESE Espresso Pod Review

Attibassi coffee company is located in Bologna Italy, and specializes in not only coffee but chocolate, another favorite product of mine. According to their website (www.attibassi.com) “Attibassi is an historical brand that was born in Bologna and that attracted the attention of refined palates since 1918, guarantees this pleasure for every product through the selection of the best raw materials and the use of traditional working methods. Today we continue to care for quality in the same way, but, in almost one century, Attibassi has become a modern industrial company.”
I happen to come across their ESE Espresso Pods and tried them out not only as hot espresso, but since the weather is getting hot here, as an iced espresso or Iced Americano.
Overall, I love the Attibassi pods, not only for their hot espresso, but for their iced cold drinks too. The blend is not 100% Arabica, but adds some robusta to build up the flavor profile and body. I usually like a decent robusta content for hot espresso, and this seems to be a good balanced blend that does not have any outrageous peaks that are reminiscent of a poorly blended espresso. It has nice crèma and a nice mocha flavors that round out the profile.
As good as it is hot, it is equally good cold. I have been drinking iced Americanos, and simply iced espressos recently. The Iced espressos are a lot like Starbucks DoubleShots, simple, velvet smooth and intense. The Attibassi works well here, and while it has robusta beans in it, when put over iced and a bit of milk and sugar added to it, the robusta does not stand out but instead does its job of filling out the flavor profile. Rich and delicious. perfect for a warm summer day.
