Nespresso Pixie Launched in US; Sneak Peek at the Nespresso Launch Site
Yea, I know we've talked a lot about the Nespresso Pixie, but judging from the emails I have gotten, people can't wait for it to hit the US market and try it out for themselves. The Nespresso Pixie has launched exclusively at Williams and Sonoma in the US, just this afternoon, giving the US access to the newest smallest Nespresso machine. I will have a Nespresso Pixie in for Review in the coming days.
The new espresso brewer is an ultra compact espresso maker that brews one cup at a time using the array of Nespresso capsules. The Nespresso Pixie has a powerful thermoblock heater that heats in 25-30 seconds, and then brews a quick shot of espresso or lungo. For reference it's about as high as eight capsules stacked on top of each other, about as deep as a sleeve of capsules, and about as wide as a teaspoon according to Nespresso; that's 12 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 9 3/4" high for the rest of us.
The 19-bar pump is at the heart of the Pixie brewer with the convenience capsule brewing. The Reservoir is on the smallish side, at about 24 ounces, but still enough to handle a week's worth of espressos. The Pixie has a light that will shine when the unit is getting low on water; you'll know when to re-fill. The spent capsule bin rounds out the brewing process, lift the lever and the spent capsules drop through; it holds about 10 capsules.
Also offers a flip up cup tray, two programmable buttons for different brew sizes, and a nice auto shut off function that puts the Pixie into energy saving standby mode.
The Nespresso Pixie comes in 6 colors: Electric Steel Blue; Electric Lime; Electric Aluminum; Electric Indigo; Electric Red; Electric Titan
Sneak Peek - Nespresso Site
If you want a sneak peek at what the Nespresso Club site will look like when the Nespresso Pixie is launched, check out the UK Nespresso Site for a view. It's a pretty impressive look at the marketing: "Pixie: Fast, Intuitive, Cool, Ergonomic, and Energy Efficient."
At Williams Sonoma, the Nespresso Pixie for $249 (We guessed the Nespresso Pixie price would range from $200 to $259), with Free Shipping. It's a pre-sale now, with an online sale date of 3/17 and an in-store date of 3/22.
Thanks to all those readers who wrote in tonight.
